Our Team

Ashley Martin
Class of 2018

My name is Ashley M,  and I am a rising senior. I challenge myself both academically and physically by taking difficult courses offered at my high school and running competitively.

I participate in various extracurricular activities, such as Animal Welfare, Leo Club, Writing Center, and cross country. I hold leadership positions in both Animal Welfare Club as Head Coordinator and as a varsity member of the cross country and track team.

I help out in my community by volunteering at Relay for Life each year. Throughout 2015-16 school year, our team raised over 1500 dollars for cancer patients and attended a 24 hour fundraiser.

I am very excited to be a part of this program and I am looking forward to helping a business in Nigeria.

Hannah Cardia
Class of 2018

Hi my name is Hannah Cardia. I am a senior at Avon High School. I love playing soccer, lacrosse and skiing. I have been playing soccer for 12 years and I was fortunate enough to have my father as a coach all the way up till high school. He pushed me to be the player am I today and for that I am very grateful. I just recently took up lacrosse but I love it so far! Besides soccer and lacrosse I enjoy teaching disabled children/adults how to ski through a great program called Stride. Every Saturday from 8am-4pm at Ski Sundown I get to enjoy being on the slopes and help those experience the thrill of a great run down the mountain. The best part is getting to the smiles on their faces after we take a run down the mountain!  Other than teaching skiing I enjoy playing with my dog and being with my family. I love ice cream. I am currently taking one AP course and five honors courses. I want to challenge myself academically and show colleges my capability.  Also I played the piano for five years and am currently learning guitar. In addition to that I am and have been a Relay For Life captain for three years and this year will be my fourth year. I am also teaching kindergarten religious class through my church every Sunday morning and volunteer at our church’s Christmas pageant. On the weekends I work at a restaurant in town as a hostess and busser. I am also a soccer referee and am a certified lifeguard. I am very excited that I get the privilege and opportunity to participate in this program, and I am looking forward to what is to come.

Megan Chada
Class of 2018

My name is Megan Chadha and I am a senior at Avon High School. Throughout my entire high school experience I have challenged myself with a curriculum of Honors and AP courses. Outside of the classroom I am involved in the Animal Welfare Club, National Honors Society, and I am an officer for the Leadership Experience Opportunity Club. Also, I am a competitive dancer on an elite team at New England Dance and Gymnastics Centers. Dancing is something that is very dear to me as it has taught me discipline, determination, and hard work; all qualities that can be used in daily life. Other than dance, I thoroughly enjoy community service through an organization called Healing Meals. This community project involves youth volunteers and teaches them to cook nutritious meals for families who are going through a health crisis. In addition, I enjoy being involved in the business field. Through my summer internship, I am working on creating my own company entitled KidsTrack which essentially tracks the school buses within my town. I am thrilled to be working with my own community and have the opportunity to work with the global community in Nigeria through the ILBS program.

Rachel Martin
Class of 2018

My name is Rachel Martin, and I am a senior at Avon High School. I am enrolled in multiple AP courses and participate in a variety of clubs and sports. I try to get out of my comfort zone and challenge myself academically in order to achieve success now and in the future. In my free time I participate in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. I have been a varsity athlete since freshman year and also enjoy running half marathons. This summer I ran my third half marathon and won my age division. In addition, I am a member of an animal welfare club, I am a writing tutor, and my school’s representative for our scholarship program. I am also very involved in Relay for Life, a nationwide program that raises money for the American Cancer Society. As the leader of my team this year we raised almost 2,000 in three months.

I  am grateful to have the opportunity to work with businesses from around the world and gain knowledge that I could not learn in a classroom setting.
