Our Team

PJ Gonzalez
Class of 2018

My name is Peter James Gonzalez. I am a rising senior at the diverse Oak Park River Forest High School. I live with my parents and little brother on the south side of Oak Park. I like to challenge myself academically by taking several AP classes along with some honors courses. I always strive to succeed in the classroom as my parents have instilled the principle of academic determination in me since a young child. I have played several sports over in my life including football, baseball, and hockey. I have played hockey for the Varsity team at OPRF for several years and have a significant leadership role on the team being one of the seasoned upperclassmen players. Through school and hockey I have learned multiple life skills including determination, proper leadership, and teamwork.

I am excited to be participating in the Leadership Initiative’s International Business Alliance Program with my fellow classmates. I want to continue learning valuable life lessons through the program while building strong connections in the competitive field of business. I am also eager to start working with the business partners in Nigeria to support the local community. I hope to change the lives of the people in the communities we work with and gain valuable life experiences in the process.

Noah Kim                                                                                                              Class of 2020

Hello, my name is Noah Kim. As a freshman at Los Alamitos High School, I challenged myself by taking the highest level of courses available such as Honors English, Algebra Ⅱ / Trigonometry, and Chemistry. I plan to take Advanced Placement courses throughout the rest of high school and hope to be fluent in Spanish within the next two years.

I am a three-time USA Water Polo Junior Olympian and have enjoyed aquatics since elementary school.  I competed on my high school swim and water polo teams. I am also a member of the national championship winning Los Alamitos Show Choir, Sound FX.  I pursue music and am working to become a Level 10 Certificate of Merit Vocalist by the time I graduate from high school. In addition to singing, I play piano, guitar and ukulele. I also volunteer with the Seal Beach Leo Club.

I am grateful to work with Leadership Initiatives and to have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of others across the globe.

Grace Vollers
Class of 2018

My name is Grace Vollers. I am a rising senior at Woodstock Union High School. I believe in challenging myself and others around me. As a junior, I took three AP courses, two honours, and an independent study in French. I am passionate about travel and learning about different cultures in our world. I am fascinated by languages, and hope to soon be able to intermediately speak trilingually; Spanish, French, and English. Along with my academic endeavors, I participate on the varsity cross-country, alpine skiing, and track and field teams at my school.

My dedication for physical and mental fitness allows me to pursue any opportunity that I am given. I believe the greatest problems in our world right now are the lack of acceptance, and lack of understanding between different people and their beliefs. Through this program, I hope to learn more about societies that differ from our own, and develop and grow and a global citizen.

Avery Gledhill
Class of 2020

My name is Avery Gledhill and I’m a rising sophomore at Sherwood High School. I am in the Engineering Pathway at school and am taking several Honors classes and working hard.

I have volunteered at Relay For Life/American Cancer Society for the past five years. I’m also co-founder of ‘Candy for a Cause,’ which is a fundraising venture aimed at helping impoverished children on the island of Roatan, Honduras obtain much needed school and medical supplies.

I’ve always been very interested in cultures other than my own. Over the years, we’ve hosted 13 international students from around the world, and each experience has broadened my global world perspective.

I am a certified scuba diver as well as certified in CPR and first aid training. I enjoy mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, scuba diving and hanging out with my 7 year old sister. I practiced Martial Arts and was the recipient of the Sherwood High School Scholar Athlete Award during the 2016/2017 Lacrosse Season.

I am honored to have the opportunity to change lives and help people in countries besides my own through this amazing program!
